I'm green with envy

Okay, I have PTWS. I'm slowly unsubscribing to wedding blogs so as to not think about what more I could have done on my wedding day. *sigh* I still can't believe it's over.

I think every bride believes her wedding was the most beautiful thing ever, but damnit, I'm totally envious of this one. She's an LA knottie I know well as a frequent contributor (less now) to the LA knot board. Congrats Jessebel! You're wedding was freaking amazing girl!

Our "1st look" site

We chose UCI as the campus was very close...a short drive down the street, and they we were...where we used to share our school days together...though i finished mine at Cal State Fullerton; go Titans!!

Nonetheless...it was a great place to go do our "1st look" pictures. The campus is beautiful as it's centered around a park. It's all very visually pleasing...to keep the students' minds off the fact that they're probably not going to pass that math class...again. Anyways!!

Check out some of potential spots:

this is looking over the bridge on ring road heading to the humanities area.

the Science Library where we spent many a day (and night) studying...

love this pathway through to the bio sci area...i think. it's changed so much since we'd been there.

School of Engineering...

and so much more! It took me an hour to walk around ring road...then another half hour to walk around the circle around the park.

It really is such a lovely school...I could't capture everything though...and almost everything about UCI has changed...except Social Sciences...just though that was funny...or maybe I didn't notice what changed.

If you're in the OC, I suggest you take some time to check out the campus. It'll give you some peace of mind...if only for an hour and a half.

slideshow withdrawals

i've been having them ever since last week when it started to get really busy for me.

just wanted to share one of our fab pictures from our fab photogs, aka, { j a c }, husband and wife team extraordinaire!

Here's one of my favorite images!

So seriously...have you checked out { j a c }'s blog post on us? Or their slideshow! I love love love the slideshow! The song playing was the girl who was performing live for Earth Week at The Camp and The Lab. It turned out to be such a perfect song!! Strange by Stacy Clark, on the Apples and Oranges album. I totally bought her album too cuz I wanted that song!

Also, I'd like to add how happy I am I went with my outfit that day and Dee went with his. It reflects our urban-chic style that I would love to look back at and remember. And I'm so happy I wore flats. I think I would have died in heels in the heat and walking around.

So couples...don't forget to be yourselves in your pictures! You won't regret it!

Now, go watch my slideshow again! hehe.

and totally have to add that makeup was done by liz of www.makeupbyliz.com. check out her work! she's amazing!

still can't stop thinking about our pictures. i heart { j a c } !!!

Still thinking about what to wear...

T minus 4 days until engagement pictures with our awesomely awesome photographers, { j a c }. So so excited!!

i look to my style icons...how do they do it so effortlessly?

White tank, skinny jeans, heels. Source: here

Jeans and boho-chic top, heels. Source: here

I still love this outfit...so simple but still makes a statement. Source: here

Jumpers are so in right now...go trendy...go classic? Source: here

Love the oversized blazer with leggings..and heels! Source: here

She totally didn't try, but she looks great! Source: here

i love the blazer look...makes a casual outift a little fancy. Source: here

so i'm thinking for my casual outfit...skinny jeans (or leggings??), high heels, white shirt or tank, blazer (or my short tuxedo jacket).

and yes, i love Nicole Richie's boho-chic style, and I love the Olsen twins' grunge-glam-i-don't-care-what-you-think style. =)

now...how to accessorize??

What to wear...

for our engagement pictures!?! It's this upcoming Sunday! Yay! I have been waiting for this for like forever..and now I'm a little scared...cuz I don't know what to wear!

Most couples do 2 outfits: 1 casual and 1 formal-ish. So we're gonna do that.

I know for our formal outfit, I'm going to be wearing this little number:

As for the casual outfit...shoot...I wanna do jeans, but should I wear my Chucks? my mocassins that i love oh-so-much? my Rainbows (total So Cal chic)? or heels so that my 5'2" self looks taller? bah!

I do admire this outfit worn by Laura Hutton:

source: oh happy day

Jeans, a white shirt, fab heels, and a necklace to bring it together...

As for him...I sent this to Dee for inspiration...

Love the simple shirt and tie. Love the flannel shirt and jeans. Simple but works so much with this couple's personality.

We'll be rummaging through our closets for outfits for this weekend. eeks!

What are you wearing...or what did you wear for your engagement pix?

frame it

such a cute idea...it could work with our fun photo booth which is gonna be like this.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

why i <3 { j a c }

There are lots of reasons, but here's one for now...

{ j a c } just posted their latest wedding...and the cruzy fun booth pix from that wedding!

With { j a c } ,we're going to have that fun booth at our wedding!

Yes, I still want the photobooth. Here's what I'm thinking...we're not doing the walk around each table and take pictures that no one is ever going to buy cuz they're so ugly from the undone decorations and half-eaten food. We're gonna have guests come to this fun booth and take all the pix they want. And with my kind of picture-whore friends...it'll be easy breezy to get them to do their thang! Guests will be able to check out their pix online and purchase if they like (which I'm sure they'll love)...and we'll be able to choose from pictures worthy of being put in our wedding album.

The photobooth will be our other source of entertainment...and our guests' favor. I plan to make button magnets so our guests can stick their photobooth picture on the fridge.

What do you think? Too many photobooths...or not enough? Hehe.

which photog?

Picking a photographer is not easy. It was difficult for us (when I say "us", I mean "me"). But we picked one, and I can't be more excited. I didn't think we were ever going to get to this point of wedding planning. Now...weeding out our list...we didn't have a long one. We chose three photogs to contact and meet with, and from those three, we would choose one.

If you want to recap on our photog interviews, here they are:

Photog #1
Photog #2
Photog #3

Our first elimination had to do with personality combatibility. P1 was mighty talented, but I was not impressed with our meeting with P1. P1 was sweet and all, but we didn't click at our first meeting. And compared to P2 and P3, it was easy to see how that personality factor really affected our decision. Also, P1's prices did not seem all that worth it...lacking in personality compatibility.

P2 or P3. Oh. Man. It was so hard to choose between the two. And I don't think I can share all the details, so I'll just get to the point. We picked P2...aka { j a c } photographers! Please check out their website and blog. We couldn't be more happy with our decision. They are a phenomenal husband and wife team. We're super excited that they will be documenting our big day. Can't wait until we take our engagement pix!

One big item checked off the list!

Photog #3

Photog 3 (P3): P3 had a great deal for the first 5 brides who booked for 2009. P3's packages were awesome. And our meeting was really great. We talked over hot chocolate and coffee. It was refreshing to meet a vendor who didn't give me the impression that if I didn't go with them, that they could easily replace me.

You know that feeling...when the vendor doesn't want to give you more than the time of day unless you're going to book with them that instance.

Okay...more photographers I admire: Greg Bumatay shot my friend's wedding, which was an absolutely beautiful wedding...and Greg was able to capture the wedding such that every time you would look at those pictures, you would be taken back to that day and feel exactly what you were feeling that moment.

Travis Hoehne shot Mrs. Penguin's engagement pictures. His pictures are fun and definitely unforgettable.

Coming up: revealing our photographer.

Photog #2

Moving on to my next review.

Photog 2 (P2): First meeting via phone, only with me. P2 said all the right things. P2 has a partner he only shoots with, so we would know exactly who would be documenting our wedding day. Three years experience. I had been following P2's blog for about a year and was happy to see the work progress. Prices seemed reasonable for the quality and experience. I decided to set up a meeting with P2 and planned to bring Fi along.

I would also like to mention some other photographers I admire. Sarah K. Chen started out as an OC Knottie. She has blossomed into a great photographer. Her work has been featured on Weddingbee as one of the blogger's photog. Jonilyn was Sarah K. Chen's 2nd shooter for this particular wedding. I have seen her photography skills improve so much; I had been following her blog for a long time as well when her name started popping up on my community Knot boards.

I stumbled upon the work of Micah Gilmore via an LA Knottie. Her wedding was gorgeous! I was super impressed with this couple's engagement pix as well!

Photog 3's review coming up.

Photog #1

After booking the venue, I really wanted us to book a photographer as quickly as we could. I had a running list of photographers I was interested as well as the style I was looking for. I loved the styles of Jasmine Star and Trista Lerit. Way out of our price range though. The photographers of Tempting Weddings make any moment picture perfect. And I so loved the combination of classic and artistic style of { j a c } photographers.

Well...we chose 3 photographers in our price range, set up appointments, did the cost comparison, and made our choice.

Photog 1 (P1): Fi was present to this meeting. P1 was fairly new to the wedding biz (I felt). As this was our first meeting, we expected to guided through the process by the photographer. I felt like I worked the hardest to keep conversation afloat. Graduated from college as a bio major and then turned to photography. P1 is very talented, but prices seemed high to me for P1's experience, but P1 said we could lock in 2008 prices since I contacted P1 before the price increase. 2nd photog is offered in package, but we didn't know who would shoot with P1 at the wedding or what his/her experience would be. No emotional connection. In addition, the issue of lack of timely communication was mentioned on my Knot Community Board.

Photog 2 review next up.
