new-ish color scheme

Remember that uneasy feeling I couldn't shake off during BM gown shopping...it persisted. And I got to talking to my coordinator, who started to help me understand what was going on in my head when I was thinking of pulling off aqua and orange. Breaking it down, it seemed like I was trying really hard to rebel against wedding cliches (pink and brown, Tiffany blue, etc). And I was making it a goal of being different...to stand out in a sea of brides.

So which color scheme would I go with then...well, if you've been following my blog, then you've seen it before. So it's not entirely new to me, but it's very different from where I was originally headed. It's a little safe, but my coordinator reminded me that being safe is better than being sorry. And she also brought up the point that I should be able to look back 50 years from our wedding day and still love everything about it, not have the feeling of "what the hell was I thinking?!" Okay, the color palette...so here it is...again:

It's the nude and plum inspiration board from this post. The main neutral colors, nude and gray will be accented by plummy colors since my wedding is in the late spring/early summer. Source: Elizabeth Anne Designs.

I'm still sitting on it for now. My coordinator suggested I wait a week to see how I feel. I've got 3 more days til that week is up. I'm still good with switching the color palette right now.

I got really lucky with my BM's gowns too. Two of my girls had not placed their order yet, so I can still change colors. I asked Siri to send me swatches of some other color considerations, and they did...lightning fast! I really appreciate it! And I loved the color swatches they sent.

without flash. for some reason, I didn't take a picture of this with flash.

I would go with Shantung in Sand (look at 1st and 2nd picture of swatches; it's the top right swatch) for the new color palette. It's a beautiful color! My coordinator has already come up with some great ideas! I'm excited all over again! It's kind of fun being back at square 1.

Table Settings

How awesome does that look? Figure out what it is yet?

It's our sweetheart table. I must share my coordinator's wonderful ideas for our table settings. I was truly blown away, and I bow my head in shame because I had thought my ideas were good. Hers are AhhhhhhhMAZING!

Her vision of our sweetheart table: a white paillette linen (sort of a sequined table cloth), LED aqua light illuminating underneath the table amidst an orange room, vases filled with water and one floating candle lining half of the table, and orange flowers to sit in front of the vases. Can ya see it?

And then for the rest of the tables: She did two sets of ideas for me...one showing full use of our budget and another showing a more cost-effective use of decor. Each set features a table with a low centerpiece and a high centerpiece.

Version 1: High centerpiece

Aqua table cloths. Silver chargers on top of folded orange napkins, which would hang over the table. A menu to sit on top of the charger in the shape of a circle, in color aqua. The white circles are small bread/butter plates. In the center, a large cylindrical vase. This schematic featured the vase filled with aqua tinted water and a floating flower. We're considering the vase to be filled up with fruit: oranges, kumquats, etc. Smaller vases to surround the larger vase. Then flowers strategically placed in between the vases. And tea lights spread over the table. And how awesome would this look with chiavari chairs?

Here is the low centerpiece:

This table will have 4 smaller cylindrical vases filled with various fruits.

And here is the cost-effective version, Version 2:

The only difference is that instead of the aqua table linens, we'll use the white table linens that come with our venue. We still have to double check and make sure they're full length linens.

But how wonderful does this look? God, it sounds expensive though. I might forego the silver chargers as that would be an added expense..and the chiavari chairs as well.

Check back again...I'll be doing a post on my fab coordinator! Her ideas are grand!!

Keep the vests?

Remember the vests I got for our groomsmen?

This picture I saw on Etsy Wedding is getting me to think maybe I can keep them and incorporate them into our wedding colors:

I'm thinking my handsome groom could sport one of these striped aqua ties:

Chevronstrip - Silver/Aquas

School Stripe - Navy/Teal

Spring Stripe - Turqouoise

Polo Stripes - Aquas

and for the groomsmen...

PinDot - Turqouoise (these would match our theme well)

Herringbone - Teal

Herringbone - Pool Aqua

Herringbone - Aqua

All pictures above courtesy of The Tie Bar. I could not find any other ties that feature dots or circles that could be in line with our them colors. =(

All the guys would wear an orange bout...something really subtle.

Anyways, what do you guys think? Keep the vests or let the groomsmen wear suits too? Would you suggest something different? Would this ruin my aqua and orange theme? Help!

still obsessed

I signed up for polyvore a while ago, but I just made my first polyvore board. It's not as easy as it looks...but I made one, and I love it! Hope you do too.

Current inspiration obsession

His favorite color is green...I love all colors, but my favorites have to be yellow and orange. I'm totally loving this inspiration board from Style Me Pretty, which was submitted by a reader for the color palette contest.
