it's back

when i first had botox injected into my hands...i thought maybe, just maybe, it was a placebo effect. i really do believe the mind is a powerful thing, but in this case, not powerful enough. because my hands and feet are back to the way they were: sweaty, sticky, a little swollen, freezing/stiff when the A/C is on at work, and just plain uncomfortable. i'm feeling super conscious of myself again, and i'm losing the confidence i had gained when they weren't sweaty.

on top of that...the dermatologists i have contacted that were on IHHS's list of physicians treating hyperhidrosis don't accept HMO. =( switching to PPO doesn't make sense for us, it's too expensive, and we don't need specific treatment by a specific doctor; the doctor i went to before having health insurance is covered under my HMO plan, so why pay more (a lot more)??

i guess i'll have to wait for the next IHHS conference...

Another great opportunity!!

Hey So Cal brides! Recently engaged or married? Up and coming Circle Ten Events is giving away a free photo shoot! Complete with hair and makeup and you get to keep all the pictures!! How great is that? I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the brides!! They're looking for one more! So check out their blog, and leave a comment. It's as easy as that!!

*chanting* I get to wear my dress again! I get to wear my dress again!!

Yea, I'm super stoked!! The theme is Paris 1920's Art Nouveau!! How divine does that sound? Dee and I thought our vacation in Paris was our favorite trip! I really wanted to incorporate some French inspiration into our wedding...I tried to do a little...but there was not enough time...2 years = not enough...really! Ah, je taime!

Here's some dolled-up inspiration they're going to work off of to achieve the look!

Finger curls for hair...and hopefully red lips?? I love it! And I looooove that they're going to let me wear my dress again. <-- Did I mention that already??

So head over there, and leave a comment!! Good luck! Deadline is July 22, 2009! Get to it!

okay, so here's Tiffany:

Just a little plug for me and my husband's photography business, as you know we are just starting out and we are still only doing this part time because we both still work full time, but we would love to book a few more clients for the rest of 2009. What's great for clients is since we are not doing this full time, we are able to offer really good prices for what you are getting.

To my Seattle readers: Are you getting married soon or know someone getting married? We have started booking 2010 weddings but realizing that we have slots open for the rest of 2009 so if you or someone you know needs a photographer, shoot me an email: tiffany (at) style-ish(.) com, we are doing a REALLY good deal for anything booked in 2009! (We are mostly booked in August and a few weekends in September but just email me with your date and I'll get back to you.) Even if you are getting married in 2010, just tell me you found me through this post and I'll give you the discounted rate too!

For Destination Weddings: if you are getting married somewhere like the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Europe – I wish! :) etc… Jared and I would love to come along and shoot your wedding for FREE.

how to choose your wedding colors...

How bout checking out Paper Source's Colorscope? It gives descriptions of your personality type with the color.

Source: here

Rhubarb was a staple color we used in our wedding stationery. Here's how Paper Source describes rhubarb:

"Curious, enthusiastic and easily stimulated, you are a magnet for opportunity and every new idea. Be careful not to over stimulate yourself, but learn to focus."

I saw this first on the Charmed Events Blog and commented with this:

"very cool! rhubarb was a staple color in our wedding! and ya know what…it’s pretty accurate! we wanted to try and incorporate some new-ish (i.e. different) ideas, lending ppl to be curious about us, and showing our enthusiasm about the wedding, but not to overwhelm our wedding look with the color but instead make it a focus! =) thanks for posting!"

The colorscope not work out for you? Check out Colour can make your own colors (and descriptions) or use one that another member created.

=( a lesson learned

happy belated 4th! we went camping along the central coast of california! it was perfect weather. we were with great company, ate great food, and just had a good time. so what there was no running water, toilets, or showers...all you need is love!

but also, dee lost his wedding ring. we were on the beach. i was laying out. he was throwing the football around with his buddies. and before he knew it, he finally realized that something was missing. hubby is left-handed and was therefore throwing the football with his left hand, so yep, he somehow threw his ring into the ocean or some warp hole that mysteriously appeared in the pathway he was throwing the football, and it gobbled it up away (we are totally into sci fi!).

what i'm struggling with is the fact that i did want him to wear his ring...even though i already had this uneasy feeling he was going to lose it...yea...i have those feelings. i only follow my gut half the time...i need to start following it all the time!

photo by { j a c }

we did not insure his ring, but we're looking into our AMEX policy to see what they might be able to do; AMEX has taken care of us before...hopefully they can help out a little. but the lesson is, ladies, tell your man to take off his ring during any physical/atheltic matter how much you want him to wear that ring! there's a reason NBA players don't wear rings on the court!

good bye ring! =( waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I'm famous!!

Not really...but it was an awesome experience...having our wedding recognized by the peeps over at The Knot. I was the feature knottie for Episode 3. I got to speak with the cofounder and Editor in Chief of The Knot, Carley Roney. I felt like I was talking to a celebrity! Preston Bailey was a guest for the episode. They took a look at bridal bling, wedding cakes on a budget, hot reception trends, and of course, me & dee!

Those public speaking classes in college did not help. Sorry for all the ums and uhs. It's doesn't get easier even when you're not on a stage. But it was such a pleasure and so much fun talking about the wedding again. Too bad I only got 3 minutes to talk about it...

Special thanks to our awesome vendors, Jamie and Chris of { j a c }, Linda Ly of Grand Soirees, Steve Burdick (and his assistant) of SBE, Jasmine Corzo of Jazz Flowers, Liz Castellano of MakeupByLiz, and our awesome wedding party (my girls especially; i love you guys!!) with whom the day could not be what it was...the best day ever! And many thanks again to The Knot for thinking our wedding was pretty awesome too.

Missed the show? You can watch the replay here. I'm towards the end...
