Updating the dress

I've decided on a seamstress to work with to help me update my mom's dress. She is Janet Brunton of Orange, CA. She works out of her home and is just the sweetest lady ever. We had a great meeting, and we shared so many great ideas. I got so excited after our meeting that I had to make a drawing of what my dress would look like after we got to working on it.

Here is the front. I think the hardest part will be shaping the top without ruining the detail. I also requested to make the 2 tiers (made to look like 4 tiers) be made into 4 tiers. This will require me getting some extra fabric and having it pleated to match the original skirt.

Here is the back. She gave the idea to open up the back (to reveal my back). She also said we could use the original buttons from the cuffs to close up the back. And she also convinced me that I should have a train. So I'm gonna do it! And she quoted me a great price.

We're still looking for our venue. We hope to make a decision this week, so I haven't been able to meet with Janet for some time, but when we get to working, I will post updates. Can't wait to share the final product!
