He's eating (drinking) rice cereal. If he needs to get somewhere, he rolls there! He reaches out for Mommy. He hates being left alone. He's working on sitting up. He puts everything in his mouth. He's drooling a lot (from teething). He is still not sleeping through the night. :/ Everyone keeps saying he looks like a little person...He was always a little person to me. He's halfway to his 1st birthday. Love this lil man! ♥ ♥ !!

My parents bought Lil Man that Nalgene botttle! Mommy has the adult version! We're looking forward to when he can sip out this bottle. But until then, we're so very happy with the milestones he's hit so far.

Well...lil man is 5-months old. He still wakes up every 2 hours in the middle of the night, but we still love him. He's sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's bed. He smiles all the time. He laughs only at Mommy. He learned how to roll over; he can only roll to his right though. He grabs his feet. He loves sitting in his Bumbo chair.

We're both so unbelievably in love with him.

We still can't believe how much he's grown in the short time.

My lil man has eczema. We'll have like 2 days of nice skin, and then he'll break out into a rash, and his skin will weep. :( Felix always seems to be taking it in good stride though.

Luckily, the eczema is only really bad on his arm folds. I've been applying moist compresses to stop the weeping, but ugh, it always comes back. :(

On another note, I've been obsessed with the Hunger Games book series. It took me about a week to finish all the books. They're so addicting! I stayed up every night to finish the books...Felix was waking up 2-3 times in the middle of the night anyway. I highly recommend reading the books! They helped keep my mind off Felix's eczema.

Yea, it happens, and it sucks, but it's worth it. I've especially noticed that my temples look really bald. So how to deal? Well, I got bangs.

I liked the texture and flowiness of her hair. My hair is wavy, so I thought I could pull this off. I had to cut off some length though because the ends were dead. :(

I also bought some turbans from a seller on Etsy. I'll report on how that works out when they arrive.

Felix was born on April 20, 2011 at 10:50AM. I was in labor for about 15 hours, and I pushed for 50 minutes. My husband and I were both in tears when we finally got to meet our little guy. We chose to name him Felix because it means "happy; lucky." He's the best thing that's ever happened to us.

It was my birthday yesterday (about an hour ago)...and I don't feel older. :) Hubby and I decided that we'll celebrate on Monday though; he's taking the day off, and we'll be heading up to LA to check out the street art exhibit. It'll be Felix's first art exhibit! Hubby had a bachelor party this weekend. I played in an annual kickball tournament with friends. It was my first time doing anything really physical since I had Felix. It was tough!!! I totally fell and ate it trying to run to first. I need to get myself back to the gym now! Felix came along to cheer mommy on; my sister came along to watch him while I played. Then I spent the rest of the day with my family. :)

LA opened up their street to the public to walk, ride bikes, skate, etc., for the first time in October 2010. They did it again in April this year, but I was too pregnant to go then.

If you get the chance, you should check it out. It's a great way to get to know LA!

Well, I've got 11 more weeks to go. Sorry for the non-posting...I've been keeping up with our baby website instead. So Belated Happy New Year to everyone, and Belated Happy Lunar New Year to everyone!

Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though they don’t necessarily coincide with my own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments.

Baby is about two and a half pounds and would be between fifteen and seventeen inches tall if he could stand. Baby's adrenal glands are producing a chemical which will be made into estriol (a form of estrogen) by the placenta. This estriol is thought to stimulate the production of prolactin by my body, and the prolactin makes me produce milk. So even if Baby comes early, I'll still be able to breastfeed. Each passing week improves the likelihood that Baby will be born strong and healthy. His brain can detect rhythmic breathing and control body temperature, so he's less likely to need breathing assistance should he be born early. He's growing eyelashes, adding fat, and developing his brain. Because of brain wave activity, researchers have speculated that babies can even dream at this time!

REMINDER: THINGS NOT TO SAY TO A PREGNANT WOMAN

"You are so big/huge." Yea, I kinda take it offensively, and it makes me sad. It makes me think about what I eat and how much I eat.
"Your baby is going to be huge," or "You sure you're not having twins?" Again, doesn't matter if you're male of female...it's not funny. And I hate having to explain myself. Look, every woman is different, and she is pregnant in a different way from the next.
"You look ready to pop, I can't believe you still have (insert time frame here) to go." Thank you. So what you're saying is I'm fatter then what I should be? Uh, thanks, jerk.

So hubby and I had our fetal survey appointment on Monday where we found out the sex of our baby! We were supposed to find out last week on Tuesday, so my excited self found it hard to sleep and then slept through the appointment; I was super bummed...I mean SUPER bummed. I ugly cried (snorting, choking, inability to speak clearly) to my sister...who, by the way, laughed at me because she couldn't understand what I was saying. I see, now, how it was funny, but I felt terrible at the time! Luckily, I did not advertise on Facebook or Twitter or Blogger about when we were going to find out. I did mention it to some people via word of mouth, but that's all. And every time someone asked me what the baby was, it just dampened my spirits. I felt like I was already a bad mother for not being able to wake up for an appointment with the doctor...well, I finally got over it.

It's been a while! Sorry. After coming home from all the traveling, all I wanted to do was NOTHING.

Also, we got a happy surprise nearing the end of summer...

A short menstrual period and week-long sore boobs lead us to, SURPRISE!, 2 positive home pregnancy tests and a doctor's appointment.

On August 26, 2010, an appointment with a physician (who happened to be my dad's doctor) confirmed it! The doctor asked me to congratulate my dad for him. And I started the necessary blood work.

We chose Dr. Mendelsohn with the Orange Coast Women's Medical Group as our OB/GYN, whose office is adjacent to the hospital we will deliver at, Saddleback Memorial.

On September 15, 2010, (Hubby's 30th birthday), we had our first appointment with Dr. Mendelsohn and got our first ultrasound!

We found out we were at 9wks, and baby is due April 20, 2011 (yea, that's 4/20). And so we begin our journey to parenthood...

So I currently have no job, am looking for work, taking care of the pops (is recovering from a surgery), and am enjoying the time off.

I've got a busy schedule ahead of me. The hubs and I are off to Houston this weekend to visit his parents, then we're San Francisco bound to celebrate our 1-year anniversary, and then I'm off to Europe with my mom and sister! I don't know what to wear or what purses and shoes to bring! I have little mula and lots of things to do. HELP!

i personally love deep v neck shirts, and i love accentuating my chest. why should i hide it? i'm happy with my body...yes, trying on clothes that don't fit me cuz i don't have the bust for it sometimes makes me sad, but i'm sad because these mass-producing designers and clothing stores feel they don't need to cater to those of us who are not at least 5'6" with a 24 inch waist and slender legs. that's okay...styling myself is a fun challenge, and i really get to show off my personality. i don't want to look like the masses at all.

how to make the wedding last...

2. sneak around to try on your wedding gown to see if it still fits. check. check.
3. try to casually bring it up with friends. check.
4. ask friends to share their pictures from your wedding. need more checks!
5. when choosing pictures for your wedding album, look at every single picture your photographer(s) took in detail. in progress.
6. continue chatting on the wedding board forums (i go to TheKnot.com forums!) to help out new brides. check.
7. take day-after pictures. check!
8. get noticed. check. =) I've been fortunate to have been featured on The Knot Live, Episode 3.
9. help a friend with her wedding. friend's wedding in October. check.

how can you not expect life to be so grand as your wedding day? it's hard. and i'm dealing. HBO's True Blood is helping. As well as getting into new hobbies such as tweeting, sewing and knitting, and old hobbies like reading and blogging. Oh, and joining a rec soft ball team with hubby, Team Wii Not Fit, has been super fun too!

our minimoon

super sorry for lack of posting. work has been busy, and i am trying to get through looking at all our wedding pictures so i can pick out the ones that will go into the album so that we can finally get the hi-res files!

so i'm going to backtrack...to our honeymoon, well, minimoon more like it. we opted to stay local and save some money. we did just make the biggest expense we have ever made together, and we thought it was the right way to start our official life together.

so after the wedding, we headed down to Torrey Pines (famous for its golf courses; the U.S. Open was there last year) in La Jolla. we stayed at the Hilton Torrey Pines using our Hilton points! score! we ate at some highly recommended restaurants. hiked down to the beach through the Torrey Pines State Park. and just relaxed and enjoyed each other's company.

us at George's at the Cove; actually we were at the Bistro part of the restaurant, which sat on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

a short walk from our hotel was the Torrey Pines State Park.

us at Sushi Ota. we had our first "Omakase." we've tried other restaurants, ordering Omakase, and Sushi Ota has been, by far, superior! i don't remember what any of the dishes were called, but here's what they looked like:

that half-of-a-shrimp was still squirming and moving around while on my plate!!

after we finished this dish, the waitors asked how we wanted our shrimp head cooked. we asked for deep-fried (i wanted baked, but we heard deep-fried was the way to go).

it was a great few days of relaxation and enjoyment. i would highly recommend checking out what's around your area...you'd be surprised at what you find.

The hubs sent me flowers yesterday in honor of our 8 years together. Then we went out to dinner. I can't believe we've been together that long. Happy anniversary, love! You're the best!

staying in shape after the wedding

i have to add this post first before showing our day-after pix. it was definitely hard to find the motivation to keep up our fitness levels. and we have let ourselves get a little lazy...

but we tried!

like during our minimoon in La Jolla. we hiked down the beach through the Torrey Pines State Park. so much fun!

how dorky are we? hehe. love it though!

and then when we got home, we took my cousin on a moderate hike along laguna beach.

not to mention our camping trips

which involve the occassional hike to a waterfall...

this one wasn't too bad.

and we got to see elephant seals!

right off the pch between San Luis Obispo and Monterey. we've made it a goal to see all of the California coastline. it's truly amazing what we have so close to home.

the point is...you gotta get out there and keep it up if you want to stay fit!

in the meantime, i am anxiously waiting for the photos from our day-after shoot with Alice Hu. she posted pix on her blog on the table decor already...my shoes are there too. =) they do look fab if i don't say so myself.

i am also trying to wear all my shoes, especially the ones i haven't worn yet! and i've gone to the library to pick up some books on sewing. since i've been so involved (mentally) in the creation of my wedding gown from my mom's gown, i really want to acquire those skills! i used to sew outfits for my barbie dolls by hand...now i'm gonna try and do my own outfits by machine...let's see how far i go with this.

also trying to read the books i was supposed to read before the wedding: The Last Lecture and Angels and Demons (i have not seen the movie yet, so i'm excited to do both).

plus, i'm trying to stay in shape. it's tough man! but my husband (<--so weird to say that still) and i joined a rec softball team, so that helps...not to mention it's fun too!

well, it was done yesterday. as you can see from the post below, it was a beautiful day, and the venue was just lovely.

and it was so much fun! dee and i got to work with wonderful vendors including: debbie chang - circle ten events coordinator/facilitator/designer (and more) of this event, jamie michele - makeup artist perfectionist, alice hu - style me pretty featured photographer, irene legaspi - hair, and more of whom i will mention in a more formal recap of the day's photoshoot!

and i got to wear my wedding dress! i got to wear 2 actually: the other one was the one that i wore during the father-daughter dance. =) and i wore 3 different hair styles. it was just a great experience altogether. no stress, just fun!

it's back

when i first had botox injected into my hands...i thought maybe, just maybe, it was a placebo effect. i really do believe the mind is a powerful thing, but in this case, not powerful enough. because my hands and feet are back to the way they were: sweaty, sticky, a little swollen, freezing/stiff when the A/C is on at work, and just plain uncomfortable. i'm feeling super conscious of myself again, and i'm losing the confidence i had gained when they weren't sweaty.

on top of that...the dermatologists i have contacted that were on IHHS's list of physicians treating hyperhidrosis don't accept HMO. =( switching to PPO doesn't make sense for us, it's too expensive, and we don't need specific treatment by a specific doctor; the doctor i went to before having health insurance is covered under my HMO plan, so why pay more (a lot more)??

i guess i'll have to wait for the next IHHS conference...
